Luxury fashion house Gucci has announced the appointment of Cayetano Fabry as its new Chief Commercial Officer. Fabry, who brings extensive experience from luxury brands like Louis Vuitton and Saint Laurent, will play a key role in steering Gucci through a challenging financial period.
Fabry joins Gucci from Saint Laurent, where he served as president of the EMEA region for over four years. Before that, he spent 16 years at Louis Vuitton, starting as a sales associate in 2004 and rising through the ranks to senior positions. His notable roles at Louis Vuitton included managing director of the brand’s operations in Italy, and later overseeing the UK, Ireland, and South Africa markets.
Fabry’s appointment comes as Gucci's parent company, Kering, faces financial headwinds. In the first half of the fiscal year, Kering reported an 11% drop in overall revenue, with Gucci’s sales plummeting by 20% to €4.1 billion. The second quarter saw continued declines, particularly in the Asia-Pacific region, with sales down by 19%.
Despite the financial challenges, Fabry expressed enthusiasm for his new role in a LinkedIn post, sharing that he is "happy to take on" the position at Gucci. His extensive experience in the luxury sector is expected to be instrumental in helping the brand navigate this difficult period.
