Mercedes-Benz sees record sales in India

Mercedes-Benz India has achieved a landmark year with record sales of 17,408 units in 2023, marking a notable 10% year-on-year growth compared to the 15,822 units sold in 2022. The luxury automaker, in its annual press conference held in Delhi, unveiled plans for the launch of 12 new models in the upcoming year, which includes the introduction of three battery electric vehicles.

As part of its commitment to technological advancement, Mercedes-Benz India announced a substantial investment of Rs 200 crore in digitising manufacturing processes. This additional investment brings the company’s cumulative investments to Rs 3,000 crore, as it celebrates its 30th year of operations in India.

In a bid to enhance customer experience and reach, the company outlined plans to expand its network by adding 20 workshops and venturing into 10 new cities during the course of 2024. Reinforcing its dominance in the Indian luxury car market, Mercedes-Benz India emphasised that it has maintained its leadership position for the ninth consecutive year, achieving the highest-ever sales in a calendar year.

While specific figures for competitors Audi and BMW were not provided in the announcement, industry sources suggested that Audi sold 7,931 units, and BMW recorded sales of 12,895 units. Mercedes-Benz India’s robust sales performance and strategic expansion plans underscore its commitment to maintaining a strong presence in the competitive Indian luxury car market.
