Ford is raising the bar in the fiercely competitive bakkie segment with the introduction of the Ranger Platinum, marking a new era of sophistication and opulence. Positioned at the zenith of the Ranger lineup alongside the formidable Ranger Raptor, the Platinum sets itself apart as the most luxurious offering in the range.

Doreen Mashinini, General Manager for Marketing at Ford South Africa, highlights the Ranger Platinum’s groundbreaking move into uncharted luxury territory. The bakkie, already a leader in the South African double cab segment, now transcends traditional expectations by blending exceptional luxury, comfort, and refinement synonymous with premium SUVs.

The Ranger Platinum stands out with a unique grille featuring accented mesh and silk chrome finishes, complemented by exclusive ‘PLATINUM’ badging. The sophisticated silk chrome detailing extends throughout the vehicle, adorning side steps, side vents, window linings, and the rear bumper. The colour-coded front bumper, mirror caps, and door handles enhance the refined visual appeal.

Inside, the cabin exemplifies the no-compromise approach to comfort and luxury. Premium quilted and perforated high-grade leather seats, accent stitching, and exclusive “PLATINUM” badges adorn the interior. The front seats offer heating and ventilated cooling functions, coupled with 10-way power adjustment and memory functions. Ambient lighting, soft-touch trim, and Black Maple decorative finishes create a captivating atmosphere.

Equipped with a 12.4-inch full-width LCD instrument cluster and the latest SYNC 4A infotainment system, the Platinum ensures a high-tech driving experience. Pro Trailer Back-up Assist, Matrix LED lights, wireless Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and a 360-degree camera system enhance convenience and safety.

Under the hood, the Ranger Platinum boasts a 3.0-litre V6 turbodiesel engine, delivering a powerful 184kW and a substantial 600 Nm of torque. Paired with Ford’s advanced 10-speed automatic transmission, the Platinum promises seamless performance for diverse driving conditions.

Safety features include the innovative far-side airbags, positioned between the front seats, reducing the risk of injuries during collisions. With dual front, side- and curtain airbags, a driver’s knee airbag, and advanced driver aids, the Platinum prioritises occupant safety.

The Ranger Platinum and Ranger Tremor are anticipated to hit showrooms at the end of Q1 2024 and might redefine expectations in the luxury bakkie segment.
