Corinthia Hotels is set to make its Romanian debut with the opening of the Corinthia Grand Hotel du Boulevard Bucharest on 10 March. Nestled in a beautifully restored 19th-century building, this new addition to the luxury hotel chain promises a blend of heritage and modern elegance, marking a significant milestone for Corinthia’s European expansion.
Located at the intersection of Calea Victoriei and Elisabeta Boulevard, the property boasts a storied history. Originally inaugurated as Hotel Herdan in 1873, it was renamed Grand Hotel du Boulevard in 1877. The iconic building was a trailblazer in Bucharest, introducing electric lighting and elevators to the city and earning its designation as a national historic monument by Romania’s Ministry of Culture.
The reimagined hotel offers an exclusive experience with 30 opulent suites designed to evoke timeless sophistication. Guests can indulge in diverse culinary offerings, including Boulevard 73, a grand ballroom-inspired dining space blending French and Romanian cuisine; the chic Heritage Bar; and SASS’ Restaurant & Lounge, which features Mediterranean and international dishes.
For relaxation and wellness, the hotel boasts a comprehensive suite of amenities. These include treatment rooms, a sauna, steam room, ice fountain, experiential shower, relaxation lounge, and a cutting-edge fitness centre.
The Corinthia Grand Hotel du Boulevard Bucharest represents Corinthia’s first venture in Romania, following the late 2024 opening of the Corinthia Brussels. The Brussels property, housed in the former Grand Hotel Astoria designed in 1909, underscored Corinthia’s commitment to reviving historic landmarks.
Beyond Europe, Corinthia continues its global expansion, having recently unveiled The Surrey in New York’s Upper East Side. Future openings are planned in Rome, Riyadh, the Maldives, and Qatar, cementing the brand’s position as a leader in luxury hospitality.
This new Bucharest property exemplifies Corinthia’s dedication to preserving history while offering world-class luxury, setting the stage for its continued growth in Europe and beyond.
